On This Day… All You Had To Do Was Ask Me!
Written by: George Chittenden : 08 Jul 2019
It was on this day, 12th March, back in 1969 when London’s drug squad raided the home of Beatle guitarist George Harrison. Unfortunately, George wasn’t there, but his wife Pattie Boyd phoned him whilst the police turned his home upside down.

When George arrived home, he told the officers “You needn’t have turned the whole bloody place upside down. All you had to do was ask me and I would have shown you where I keep everything.” They didn’t need his help though, as they’d already discovered a considerable amount of hashish.
Both George Harrison and Pattie Boyd were arrested, which was unfortunate as they missed Paul and Linda McCartney’s wedding that same day as a result. The pair convinced the authorities it was all for their personal use and were eventually fined £250 each.
