The Construction Of Disneyland
Written by: George Chittenden : 27 Feb 2020
In August 1953 Walt Disney acquired the site where his dream of Disneyland in Southern California would become a reality. That site was thirty-eight miles south of Burbank in a city called Anaheim, and consisted of one-hundred and sixty acres of orange groves and walnut trees alongside the new Santa Ana freeway and Harbor Boulevard.
Work quickly began and on Sunday, July 17th, 1955 the park finally opened. This photo shows Disneyland’s rather elaborate castle as it started to take shape.
