The Heritage Fund Helps Us In Our Amazing Mission
Written by: Peter Fishlock : 04 Feb 2020
We would love to give some massive recognition to 'The Heritage Fund'.
Mid-way through last year, The History Project had an amazing idea about visiting schools and inspiring the next generation of budding historians by getting them to find, clean and research history that has been hidden underground in their school fields.
It was a big project and the pound signs started to mount up and up and as we had no money, we kinda had to forget it.
That was until someone very special came to our aid, Colin Smith, a Civil Servant who has a passion for helping organisations like ours raise money.
Colin is a big believer in The History Project and quickly set himself the task of finding some funding for our Metal Detecting Adventure History Package!!!
Colin thought the package was a great fit with The Heritage Fund.
The Heritage Fund is an organisation that distributes National Lottery grants from £3,000 to £5 million and over, funding projects that sustain and transform the UK's heritage

After reading our grant application, The Heritage Fund made the decision to give The History Project the full amount required to deliver the project!!!
In total, the project cost just over £14,854
The Heritage Fund generously granted us £8500
The remaining £6354 was made up by The History Project in, 'in-kind' social capital.
We are so proud to have delivered this amazing experience to so many children and so grateful to The Heritage Fund.
Without their support, this project would simply not have happened and would still just be an idea on a piece of paper!!!
